As a part of my schooling, I am also going to Pikes Peak Community College with the hopes of graduating with an Associates in General studies by the time I graduate high school, all for free! Growing up, being a hard worker is something my parents heavily emphasized. We have a small farm with a herd of cattle, chickens, horses and other animals, and I learned early the value of a work ethic. I now work at Broken Bones BBQ, and I have worked here for over a year now! I have loved getting to learn about food service! The latest Meet Me Monday!! Here is Joy: . “My first big job was working as a document drafter in charge of approving and submitting documents to the Federal Aviation Administration. I gained a lot of knowledge of small-unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) design and regulations. I learned a lot from that position and it took a lot of self-discipline and responsibility. Growing up, I have always loved science. I began looking for a medical based profession where I could help others. I enrolled in the Dental assisting program at PPCC. After I was employed as a Dental Assistant, responsible for patient care, chair-side assistance, and administrative work. I quickly realized the career wasn't for me, and I was looking for something different. After several more odd jobs in effort to save up for school, I am currently working as a credit auditor, making fact-based decisions on approving or denying credit requests. This next semester I'm going back to school for biology, which was my dream as a child. It's not success or failure that defines me, but the life in between. It’s finding something I love, doing my absolute best, and working hard. Those around me have mentioned to me it's going to probably take 6 years to become a biologist because of the amount of time and money it takes to commit to school. I know it will take me a longer time, but I know 6 years is going to pass anyways, and at the end of those 6 years I’m either a biologist or I am not.” . . .
